Dresden Board Goals for 2007-08
- Identify the academic skills Dresden graduates need to thrive in a global society and develop a plan for providing these skills in the curriculum offerings in 2007-08.
- Continue supporting the High School initiative to develop competencies for each course
- Review the current foreign language offerings to determine if an additional foreign language or program changes are warranted.
- Identify the academic and social support systems students will need to achieve these academic skills and maintain their well being in Dresden schools.
- Support the Middle School effort to initiate the responsive classroom program
- Support the high schools effort to expand academic and support systems needed for ninth grade students
- Determine the nature of guidance services desired by the board, by parents, and by students.
- Support the student and faculty efforts to implement the March Intensive program at the high school.
- Support teachers’ efforts to improve school quality:
- Implement K-12 assessments in all subject areas
- Gain skills in the collecting and analyzing of data drawn from student and parent/community surveys
- Help develop indicators to measure school quality
- Foster innovations through the use of staff development funds and the SAU 70 Professional Development Master Plan
- Improve communication within the school community and between the school community and the community at large.
- Support initiatives such as The River, web page enhancements, school-based community events, etc.
- Support communication goals set at the Middle and High Schools
- Identify ways to get board members into schools during the school day
