DRESDEN SCHOOL BOARD

ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

MONDAY, MARCH 12, 2007

7:08 P.M., HANOVER HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY

Minutes

Present:  Board members Asmus, Bruce, Callaghan, Carpenter, Carter, Chamberlin, Fleischer, Gray, Sachsse; Administrator Gersen; and one member of the public.

1.        Call to order

2.      School Board organizational/election of School Board Officers

                  Election of Board Chair - Superintendent Gersen called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m.  He called for nominations for Board Chair.

                  Nancy Carter nominated and Kari Asmus seconded the nomination of Bob Bruce.

                  Chip Fleischer nominated and Robin Carpenter seconded the nomination of Kari Asmus.

            Superintendent Gersen closed nomination and called for a vote.  Bob Bruce was elected Board Chair, 7 yes, 1 abstention (Bruce).

            Election of Board Vice-Chair – The election of the Vice-Chair was deferred to the next Dresden Board meeting.

            Election of Board Secretary – Chair Bruce called for nomination for Board Secretary.

            Kari Asmus nominated and Robin Carpenter seconded the nomination of Carey Callaghan. 

            The Chair closed nominations and called for a vote.  Carey Callaghan was elected Board Secretary unanimously.

3.      Discussion of committees, committee assignments

            Board members agreed to email Chair Bruce and Superintendent Gersen with committee preferences and reactions to the proposed task list. They also agreed to consider the notion of modifying and/or expanding the negotiations team in October, depending on the progress of the Alternative Compensation Committee.

4.      Nonpublic session

            Nancy Carter moved and John Chamberlin seconded a motion to enter nonpublic session in accordance with RSA 91-A:3 (II.a.) for discussion of personnel matters at 8:02 p.m.  The motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.

5.      Adjournment

            The Board returned to public session at 8:15 p.m.

            Linda Gray moved and Robin Carpenter seconded a motion to adjourn at 8:15 p.m.  The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
