Data Collection Parameters

The Quality of Education Leadership Team (a.k.a. “The Troika”) met this morning to discuss the future direction of the Quality of Education Committee and the parameters the schools should use in identifying existing “benchmarks”. We recommend that the committee adopt a “Three A” cycle illustrated below for gathering and using data:

The cycle illustrates how an organization gathers data through assessments, analyzes that data (in a group or by a designated individual), and identifies action that that would improve the assessment results in the future. Assuming the use of this cycle, we are asking each school to identify school performance data they are currently collecting, how that data is currently analyzed, and how the data is used to determine action steps.

The status report on data collection should take the following form:

In the coming days I hope that each school will schedule a meeting of the Principal, teacher, and parent representative and alert all QED members of the meeting time and site.
