Quality of Education Committee
Richmond Middle School Library
Thursday, March 1 – 3:30 PM

The QED co-chairs-- Bill Bender, Marjorie Rose, Deb Gillespie-- and Wayne Gersen met earlier this week with Jay Davis to discuss the work done thus far on the Quality of Education Committee and to decide on what we should do next.

After our discussion we determined the following:

1. Because of the fact that several committee members expressed problems with 2/15 as a meeting date, we decided to set March 1 as our next time to meet. We will meet in the middle school in a classroom to be announced.

2. Before the next meeting we want committee members to review the attached "Fears and Goals" grid and the attached sub-committee task sheets handed out at the last meeting.

3. At our next meeting, which will be facilitated by Jay Davis, we will:

• Convene a BRIEF whole group meeting where we will review the sub-committee structure and Jay will describe the activities each sub-committee will undertake.
• Following that brief overview, we will break into sub-committee groups and de-brief the "Hopes and Fears" grid, review the sub-committee tasks and ask clarifying questions about them.
• Gather in the whole group to make certain each group is clear about THEIR mission and has an understanding of the mission of the other sub-committees.



4. We hope that this will be the last full committee meeting for 6-8 weeks to provide time for the sub-committees to work independently on their tasks.

We GREATLY appreciate the candor at our last meeting and look forward to beginning the hard work of identifying the school and district level quality and cost measurements we will recommend to the SAU Board.
