SAU 70 has four school boards, the Hanover, Norwich, Dresden and SAU 70 boards. The Board's primary responsibility is the legislation, development and maintenance, of district policies and working with the superintendent and building administration in the the crafting of a budget to deliver and defend to the voters.
Residents of Hanover and Norwich can run for one of the following positions:

Hanover and Norwich school board members serve 3-year terms (one member of the Dresden Board from Norwich is a non-voting member and serves a 2-year term).
- Moderator, Clerk or Treasurer of the Hanover or Norwich district (depending on residency), all of which serve 1-year terms. These positions do not sit on the school board. The moderator and clerk manage logistics on the election and the treasurer signs checks for the district.
