RMS Principal Search

On December 3, 2018 we began a search for a new principal to start July 1, 2019 at the Frances C. Richmond Middle School (RMS). RMS is an important center piece of the Hanover community. The search committee has begun an inclusive process to find its new leader.

The Mission of Richmond Middle School

Our mission is to provide challenging, comprehensive and developmentally appropriate education for all students. Our broad goal during these three years is to ensure that our students are provided with the skills to become successful and thoughtful adults in a highly competitive and complex world. It is the task of our middle school to bridge the gap between childhood and adulthood, from dependence to independence, and from understanding the world in a simple and concrete manner to comprehending it in its multifaceted, multilayered configuration.

Principal of Frances C. Richmond Middle School

The Frances C. Richmond Middle School community in Hanover, NH, is seeking a skilled and caring educator to serve as its next principal. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a talented staff and a supportive community. The school serves approximately 350 students, in grades six through eight. Richmond Middle School is among the highest performing middle schools in New Hampshire and is part of School Administrative Unit 70’s Dresden School District, the nation’s first interstate school district, which enrolls students from both Hanover and Norwich, VT.

Situated in the beautiful Upper Valley of the Connecticut River, a short drive to the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the area offers innumerable recreational opportunities. The proximity of Dartmouth College provides rich cultural opportunities, and the cities of Boston, MA, Portland, ME, and Burlington, VT are nearby.

The principal is responsible for the instructional leadership and day-to-day management of the school, the oversight of all certified staff members and instructional assistants, the development and management of an operating budget of nearly $7.4 million, and maintenance of the strong relationship between the school and the Hanover / Norwich community.

Minimum qualifications for the position include a relevant Masters Degree and eligibility for New Hampshire principal certification. Town of Hanover

Hanover is located on the western side of New Hampshire in the scenic Upper Connecticut River Valley. The river forms the border between Vermont and New Hampshire. The Town has a population of 11,260 (per 2010 census) and is the home of Dartmouth College, which was established in 1769.
