Transition Time

On Wednesday, June 11, the SAU 70 Board made it official; Robin Steiner will take over as Superintendent on August 4th! Robin’s depth and breadth of K-12 experience as a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent will serve our schools well for the next three years.  Robin joined us early in the 2020-21 school year, and helped to guide us through the pandemic in her unexpected role as Covid Coordinator.  Since then, Robin has worked closely with our teachers and administrators in each school, establishing strong working relationships and leading significant progress in curriculum development, grants management, professional development, and emergency planning.  Less visibly, but no less importantly, Robin has led major revisions of our evaluation systems for administrators, teachers, and support staff, from evaluation criteria and rubric development, all the way through the building of corresponding on-line evaluation tools.

Additionally, the SAU 70 Board voted to support the appointment of Lauren Amrhein as Interim Director of Curriculum and Instruction.  Lauren has a 13 year history in SAU 70 as a third grade teacher, associate principal, and for the past 8 years as the Ray School Principal.  Lauren's strength in elementary curriculum, along with her active participation in ongoing Language Arts, Math and Science curriculum work, as well as her prior service as the chair of the Central Staff Development Committee all serve as examples of her readiness for district-level leadership.  Lauren’s positive outlook and collaborative leadership style will serve her well in this new role.

In terms of leadership continuity, Robin and Lauren have identified Colleen Roy, Ray School's Math Coordinator, as a highly-qualified administrator who is willing to serve as Principal of the Ray School in an interim capacity for one year.  Colleen recently served as the Principal of Greenfield Elementary in the Con-Val School District for 9 years and has earned the respect of her Ray School colleagues through her school-wide role.  Colleen has provided training for teachers in math instruction, and has worked with grade-level teams analyzing data and implementing Illustrative Mathematics.  She is excited to  continue to support Ray students and staff as the interim principal, continuing the great work currently in progress.

By making these interim appointments, we will be able to ensure a smooth start to the 2025-26 school year and will be ready to conduct a thorough search for these important leadership positions.

Along with these changes, Teresa Taylor officially became the Business Administrator of SAU 70 when Jamie Teague retired May 1, 2025.   She brings a wealth of experience to the position, working in finance in schools in both New Hampshire, and Vermont for the past 15 years.  She also has experience working with technology and software.  Teresa will guide multiple areas with the same ethical compass and sense of duty including: business and finance, human resources, transportation, facilities and food services.  Teresa has worked at the SAU office for the past year as the Finance Director, and has enjoyed getting to know the staff.  She is looking forward to getting better acquainted with the staff in each building during the 2025-2026 school year.

Have a great Summer!
