SAU 70 School District Protocol for Suicide Prevention, Intervention, and Postvention

Step 1: Staff and/or students communicate all safety concerns to the Qualified School Professional (QSP). QSPs include school counselors, school psychologists, or other qualified professionals designated by school administrators. If there is a weapon present, clear the room and call administration and 911.

If a staff member is contacted by a student that they suspect may be at risk outside of regular school hours, contact a school administrator immediately by phone. If an administrator is not available, call 911.

Step 2: QSPs will meet with student(s) to assess the level of risk and notify a school administrator.

Step 3: Level of risk determines next steps.
